Close-up of Gold and Sparkly

12 March 2009
Happy Birthday, John!

A few days ago, I took a photo of this doublet stomacher as I was applying trim and gold fleurs. Now, it’s all beaded and assembled, and this is a close-up of how the beading turned out—I like it! I hope Lionel will, too!

I had a sick husband today, home with me instead of at work —although he ended up working all day anyway. At least he didn’t have to get fully dressed and drive and deal with the office environment when he felt like crap. But, because he was home, it worked out really well for me to have lots of hand-sewing to do—I could be nearby if he needed me.

Sheer Sunday, Aug 3 2008

2 August 2008
Saturday. Marita Beth is in Wisconsin and I…I spent my Saturday working. I met with Terrill and the crew out at the airport where we were finalising and implementing a long-awaited completion of a project. The only unfortunate things were the HEAT and the fact that it was a Saturday. Normally, I’d have spent my Saturday in the cool of a movie theatre or perhaps at No Frills playing trivia with friends…in air conditioning. But, this Saturday I spent sweating my arse off in the outdoors, where even in the shade, the temperature was nigh-unbearable. By the time we were sure the implementation was going to go well enough, I was pretty well spent. By the time I’d driven home I was completely spent and holed myself up in the house for the remainder of the day. But, I did manage a photo or two. This is the sheer that hangs over the French doors to the backyard. A much thicker, heavier curtain hangs over the sheer to prevent heat & light leakage, but I realised as I let the dogs out that an appropriate focal length might just make a good photo. I wasn’t so wrong.

Today, I will go play trivia with friends.
Cheers.

Texture Thursday, Jun 12 2008

8 June 2008
While MB was running errands (my errands…for me…I might add), I sat in the comfortable air conditioning of my local and watched Euro2008 games. Watched Austria lose to a lackluster Croatia, then watched Germany go 2-nil up on the Polish. That was a great game. In between, I looked at my hat sitting on the marble bar top and decided I liked the juxtaposition of textures. So, I took a photo:

Hairbrush by Night Tuesday, May 20 2008

16 May 2008
Friday’s during faire season are hard. Very hard. There’s the daily grind at work, followed by the frantic/frenetic packing dance, then last minute errands to the stores for weekend necessities, followed by the inevitable trip to petrol station. By the time all this happens, it’s frequently late and I will have, again, forgotten to get a photo. What should make this Friday any different? Nothing, except, we didn’t stop for petrol. Yep, no photo for Friday again…but, since I was still up at 00:58 when I took this photo, I’m counting it.
Hairbrush at Night
My black hairbrush, with black bristles at night in a darkened shop lit only by strings of decorative Christmas lights. Huh. Making the mundane beautiful, or at least interesting. That’s me.
Cheers.
