Sheer Sunday, Aug 3 2008

2 August 2008
Saturday. Marita Beth is in Wisconsin and I…I spent my Saturday working. I met with Terrill and the crew out at the airport where we were finalising and implementing a long-awaited completion of a project. The only unfortunate things were the HEAT and the fact that it was a Saturday. Normally, I’d have spent my Saturday in the cool of a movie theatre or perhaps at No Frills playing trivia with friends…in air conditioning. But, this Saturday I spent sweating my arse off in the outdoors, where even in the shade, the temperature was nigh-unbearable. By the time we were sure the implementation was going to go well enough, I was pretty well spent. By the time I’d driven home I was completely spent and holed myself up in the house for the remainder of the day. But, I did manage a photo or two. This is the sheer that hangs over the French doors to the backyard. A much thicker, heavier curtain hangs over the sheer to prevent heat & light leakage, but I realised as I let the dogs out that an appropriate focal length might just make a good photo. I wasn’t so wrong.
Sheer
Today, I will go play trivia with friends.
Cheers.

Hanging Cage Thing Sunday, Aug 3 2008

1 August 2008
Outdoor cage-type thing; it hangs over the birdbath in the front yard. It’s one of the many acquisitions that my wife has made that, although it makes the front yard beautiful, I have no idea what its true purpose is.
Cage Thing
Cheers.

Guinness – It’s Good For You Sunday, Jul 27 2008

22 July 2008
There are certain concessions that corporations allow their employees. One of those concessions is the decorations and gewgaws that employees are allowed to use to decorate their offices – or in my case a cubicle. I have surrounded myself in my office with happy things, things that make me smile and remind me of why I work. One of those things, and the first thing I see when I walk into my cubicle each morning is this poster:
Guinness Poster
It’s a simple reminder that at the end of the day, I can walk away and have myself a Guinness. After all, Guinness is good for you.
Cheers.

Wee Peeple Pot Saturday, Jul 5 2008

30 June 2008
I’ve used Wee Peeple before as a photography subject. Several times, in fact. But, I don’t fret about it because the dolls are so intricate and so beautiful and so well made that each doll offers a plethora of photographic opportunity!
Tiny Pot
This is a close-up of the small clay pot in one of the dolls hands. The camera focused in on a stray fibre rather than the pot itself, but from an artistic point of view, I like the composition better than the other one I took where the fibre was moved out of the way and the focus shifted.
Cheers.

Filigreed On Saturday, Jun 14 2008

12 June 2008
A Thursday. A droll day. A day without photos save one.
Flipped On when I got home, I took the photo and flipped it off. The decorative faceplate is typical of the type of decoration with which MB has rendered our little house beautiful.
Filigreed On
Cheers.

Treasure! Friday, May 16 2008

14 May 2008
Have I mentioned that my wife is talented? She’ll take this bunch of geegaws
Treasure?
and turn it into works of art that she will then sell. I love what she does.
