Good to Be Home

30 January 2009

My trip home was even easier than I ever hope for—plenty of space on the flights and I actually took an earlier flight than originally planned. Not sure that bodes well for the airline industry, but it’s no surprise right now, either.

Kyle was able to pick me up from the airport and take me back to his office. With the extremely small amount of sleep I’d had, I opted to sit with him, in his office while he worked the afternoon, rather than drive myself anywhere. It gave me time to do email and play with Facebook—simultaneously the coolest thing ever, and the biggest time-waster ever! But, then, if you’re reading this, you are probably also addicted to Facebook! 😉

When we finally left the office, we stopped by to see Trista and give her the little gift I’d picked up for her.  From St Augustine, it’s a shot glass for her collection picturing an alligator and reading, “Send More Tourists . . . the last ones were great!”  I was amused.

We went home, unloaded, and enjoyed some wind down time.  I even contemplated a very early bedtime.  But, it wasn’t long before I got my second wind and we decided to go out for some TexMex!   Always a good idea, and pretty much a tradition on my first night back home after being anywhere other than Texas!

When we got home from dinner, it was bedtime.  I snapped my photo of Artemis and Kyle playing  as we got ready for bed.  The two of them rarely play, and in fact while I’m away, Kyle hardly even sees the cat.  So, this was good for both of them!  And now that I’m home, whatever room I’m in—-she’s in!  I think she missed me.

It’s good to be home.
