Green Satin and Silk

13 January 2009

This is the pile of  emerald green satin and silk chiffon that is currently in, on, under and around my three active sewing machines—the big machine,  the big serger and a little home serger.  I am in the process of creating a skirt (Kelly is making me the bodice) to wear to Chad and Laura’s wedding this weekend.

I wouldn’t normally indulge myself like this, but Chad and Laura are having a theme wedding—a masquerade!  And the coolest mask I own is a lovely thing my brother and his first wife brought me back from a trip to Venice.  It’s green and gold, and very elegant.  And I had absolutely nothing to wear with it!  So, I’m creating an outfit, part historical, part fantasy; part original, part inspired by something I saw last week in Edinburgh!  I have no idea how it will turn out, or if it will be something I’ll ever wear more than once.  Wish me luck!
