Happy Birthday, Shannon!

Happy Birthday, Shannon!

I worked part of the day, erranded for a bigger part of the day, including laundry and post officing, and finally, after a shower and a quick change, landed at the party.

Forty-nine is one of those numbers . . . you simply have to celebrate it!  Shannon knew nothing about our plans for her tonight, except that she was to be ready to leave the fairesite at 7 p.m.  We had all gathered (a group of about thirteen or so) at George’s house, and Kelly was charged with delivering the gaffer to her circle of friends.  She arrived blindfolded and when the gang yelled “Surprise!” she was well and truly . . . surprised.  Delaenya had worked for days to ensure everything was perfect.   She prepared beautiful salads and yummy potatoes and George grilled chicken.  The weather had cooled just enough to be really pleasant and we had a delightful meal on the deck before the mosquitoes chased us indoors.  The cake, pictured here, with Shannon on the right and Delaenya on the left, was a work of technology and art and rather impressive baking.  It was not only tasty, but was decorated with a “photo image” of Shannon in the glassblowing studio–in edible icing!  Yay!
