While out and about running errands that needed running, I stopped in at No Frills Grill for a beer and some football (American-style). While there, I noticed the condiments rack. Someone had placed one Sugar packet in amongst the Sweet and Low. I found it amusing:

Cheers.

Another stressful day at work. Luckily, it's Tuesday. And Tuesday means dollar draft night at No Frills Grill. Marita Beth and I headed there immediately upon my hitting home. Since she had to go to dance class – in Allen, an hour away – at eight, I wanted to spend some quality trivia time with her. Eventually, she had to leave so I took her home (our wonderful waitress, Gennifer saved my table for me), waited while she got ready, then went back to finish out my trivia games. I really enjoy the trivia. Finally, it was time for me, too, to go home. Marita Beth was still at dance class and would be for hours to come. So, I made the coffee and went to bed. While making the coffee, I realised no photos had been composed or taken. So, you get coffee beans:

Cheers.

Ater a pretty lousy emotionally turbulent morning followed by a great deal of work, Marita Beth went over to Ginger’s for a much-needed “girl’s day out.” She, Ginger & Kelly sat and did what girls do while playing Mah Jongg. I, meanwhile, finished my work and then went to No Frills Grill for a very exciting Dallas Cowboys game. I’m not the biggest fan of American football you’ll ever find. I find the rules cumbersone and overly-restrictive; but I can certainly get swept up into the emotion of a rich game and there’s no denying the amount of talent present on the field and sideline of any given professional football game. The Cowboys won, I finished my beer and then crashed the girls party. It was getting on in the day, so I didn’t intend to stay long, but since Kelly was leaving the next day, I had to get over for a kiss and a hug. Besides, even though Ginger only lives a few blocks away, we all tend to hermit ourselves after Dickens so I hadn’t seen her either. So, there I went and sat and watched a few hands of Mah Jongg. They were well-embroiled in a three-hand game, so I didn’t wish to intrude, but I did take a photo of Marita Beth’s hand at one point.

I took a bunch of photos at No Frills Grill, too, but I like this one best.
Cheers.

TGIF. Can it be said too many times? It was quite the week, but the week was over…finally. Knowing, this I slept in a little later than I had been and took a leisurely path to work. On the way, I stopped to take photos of yet another natural gas well. But, I decided on this one of the lock “protecting” the gate instead:

Not that the images of the area aren’t worth the posting, I just liked this one best. I believe I’m becoming a fan of the close-up, the bokeh and extreme depth of field photo. Not that I can’t see the beauty in or even utilize other styles, I just think this is where my personal photographic journey is taking me.
Cheers.

As you’ve likely sussed out, I’m behind again. The rapid posting behaviour only occurs when I’m days behind, if not weeks. In this case, I’ve done two posts, with 3 more to go before being up-to-snuff. One of the most frustrating things that occurs when I’m this far behind is that I will receive a new “assignment” between taking the photo and actually posting about it. This photo

would be great for the current assignment “Man-Made Abstract”, but since I’ve not technically received that assignment yet, I will simply use this as “Yet Another Day in Which I didn’t Take an Early Photo” image. I hope you don’t mind.
Cheers.

Monday dawned and Marita Beth was still sick. Really sick, in fact. Neither of us got much sleep that night before (especially with that crazy dream about Paul – “I tried to help, but you know Paul, he’s really finicky. He didn’t like any of the meat I brought home.” – Like I said, weird.). So, what with sleep deprivation, worry over my wife (last time she was this sick, it was menangitis) and the upcoming training sessions, my day was every bit as surreal as Marita Beth’s day. To top it off, the photo I took,

is the same subject as the photo she took. Weird.

As I've mentioned before I pay attention to the photo "assignments" that come my way via blogs & forums I subscribe to. Two of the three assignments I get each week are assigned on Friday while the third comes to me on Monday. This week's Friday assignments were Purple & Soft. It is the Wednesday after those two assignments came out, but I'm posting for that Saturday photo. This is Purple.

I was driving through a parking lot in South Arlington and my eyes were drawn to the purple newspaper box and the purple lightposts just outside the Taco Bell. But, I wasn't overwhelmed with the composition opportunities. Then, but 30 feet way, someone had dropped an empty Kleenex box next to an abandoned Mexican restaurant. Aha. So, now we have a Purple Kleenex box as fulfillment for Assignment number one. I'm sure that I gathered many a look as I crawled around in the filthy parking lot looking for a good angle to shoot my Purple. I think I got it with this one. I like the overall arrangement and exectuion of the image, even though it is a photo of someone's refuse.
I threw the box in the trash. Couldn't have someone else taking a photo of a Purple Kleenex box, could I?
Cheers.

A better day at work, if only a little. However, it did wrap up nicely. A batch of co-workers, as stressed as myself, and I went to Rob’s Billiards for some pool & beer. That’s always great fun, but this time was a bit special; my friend Joseph, down from Wisconsin for a useability seminar (or some such), joined us for beer. He didn’t play pool with us, but when we switched to shuffleboard, the man stepped right up. He and I knocked our competition for a right loop.
If you look closely, you can see both my camera and myself reflected in the weight.
Cheers.
