Friday and the skies opened in a deluge. Truly, I spent much of the day worrying about the state of the faire-grounds under/after all that water. But, by the time I headed southwards it was mostly done and gone.
These little guys certainly didn’t seem to mind the rain. There were literally hundreds of them that flit about and lit atop the tree just outside my boss’s window. We are on the fourth floor, and the topmost Cedar Waxwings, for that’s what they are, were just about eye-level.

Cheers.

OMG! They are beautiful.
They are, aren’t they? I spent probably 20 minutes photographing them. Unfortunately the camera I had, combined with the filth on the window and the overcast/rainy skies really ended up muting their colour. The red, blue & yellow on their feathers is truly vibrant.
Apparently this area of North Texas is a migratory stop as they live in the Northern U.S. and Canada but Winter in Mexico.

Wow!! I have never seen more than two together. We had them in NJ in the summers. This is an excellent photograph. You look to have males and females.
i understand that they swarm on migration but most other times they are fairly solitary.
This is a small portion of the swarm that came through
. Hard to see, but you can probably get the gist.

I’ve been waiting for you to post this photo to the KRMB. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen one of these birds. Beautiful! Nice catch.
They are so beautiful. I downloaded the picture. Hope you don’t mind.
Well seen, well caught, pretty birdies
I have never seen these birds. I dont think we have them this far south.
I’ve never seen them either, as far as I can remember. But, apparently we are in their migration path!
