Triumverate Minus One

Happy Birthday, Me!

I’ll write more about this goofy photograph later.  But, for now, I just want to get the photo itself online for Kelly to see!

*************************************************

I have had a lovely birthday.  I had phone calls and emails from all over the country!  I got a fabulous little envelope of goodness from my Mama, and special treatment from my Fed Ex driver, who knew it was my birthday and I wanted to be away from the house this afternoon, so she delivered my boxes earlier than normal!  It’s nearly one a.m. now, and Kyle and I are watching Bram Stoker’s Dracula—one of my favourite films.  His business trip to Washington D.C. went well enough, and he’s back home safely.

I worked all through the night last night—finishing up alterations and other projects I’d promised people for the weekend.  I took a nap from six a.m. until my alarm went off at about 7:15 a.m.  I snoozed it a couple of times and then took a quick shower, got dressed and met Mark for breakfast at IHOP.  We had a wonderful visit and got him on the way to work by about 9:15. Then, I did some packing, a little more sewing, and Ginger and I headed to downtown Fort Worth around one o’clock.

The Main Street Arts Festival is one of our favourite festival events, and although Kyle had to miss it this year, I really wanted to go.  I loved being there on my birthday!  I didn’t even end up buying anything, but we  walked and “window shopped” and just had a great girl’s day out.  We ran into Bert at the festival and walked with him for a while.  We ate at La Madeleine (twice!) and by six ‘clock we were on our way back home.  Once home, I finished packing, was reminded of yet another alteration I’d promised, and did that, and finally headed toward faire around 8:30.   I had just about finished with all the booth prep and was arranging my beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers from Mary and Donny, when Kyle arrived, fresh off a flight from D.C.

We got to spend some time together on my birthday, after all!

Dragon Guardian

Happy Birthday, George!

With a name like George, I imagine one is destined to have an affinity for dragons.  Our beloved “Dr. George” as he is known to hundreds, is no exception.  His passion for collecting dragons rivals my Mickey obsession and then some!  On his natal day, I chose to take a photo of one of my favourite dragons in our own collection, in his honour.

Knight’s Move Friday, Apr 18 2008

12 April 2008
The sight of an armoured individual playing a delicate looking wood game is lovely dichotomy. I love this photo for that reason.
Lord Blueberry Plays Hneftafl
The game is Hneftafl (which for simplicity sake, we call “King’s Table“); it is part of a larger family of games called the Tafl games. The concept of the game is simple; the strategies involved in winning are not.
Cheers.

Wooden Dice Friday, Apr 18 2008

11 April 2008
Goodness, a lot of product came in this week. Marcus and I were up quite late getting everything labeled, inventoried & displayed. Although these 30mm wooden dice did not come in this week, I liked the play of light from, on & through the glass bowl that contains them. So, that’s the image we get today. 30mm wooden dice in a glass bowl at the East Wind Games shop at Scarborough Renaissance Festival.

The Macallan Hat Friday, Apr 18 2008

10 April 2008
My good friend, Bill, gifted this hat to me recently. Not only is the hat representative of one of the finest scotches on the planet, but it’s a darn fine hat. Well-constructed, it fits very comfortably on my head. The cat seems to like it, too, judging from the cat hairs covering it.

Mexican Inn Light Shade Friday, Apr 18 2008

9 April 2008
Went to dinner with Larry & Denise tonight. They’ve arrived in Texas from Wisconsin, and what better to serve than Tex-Mex. So, Mexican Inn it is. I think I took a photo of their light covers last year, but I like them; so I took another one.

Debit Hell Friday, Apr 18 2008

8 April 2008
Ahh, the credit card. The bane of society & the root of much misery. But, this style, I find more palatable as it’s a debit card, not a credit card. Yes, Visa branded it, but I can, in no way, spend money I don’t have with this little piece of plastic.
Holographic Debit
And, it precludes the necessity of carrying around bundles of cash or cumbersome checkbook. Yes, despite the stigma attached to the lowly credit card, I find the debit card to be my friend.
Cheers.
