Close-Up of Chausuble

Leap Day!

Just what I’ve always wanted . . . an extra work day in my spring season!  Unfortunately, I spent most of the day not feeling too well, and not getting much work done.  (Except for a blissful hour or so that I worked in the yard—it was a beautiful morning and I couldn’t help myself!) In fact, I did something instead, that I’ve been needing to do for at least five years.  I went to the doctor.

Now, before anyone panics, and figures I must have been abducted by aliens and replaced with a pod person, I must explain.  No, I do not “like” the idea of going to the doctor.  (Sorry, George–you know I love you!)  I was raised by a country boy and an RN.  Daddy always had a “time will heal all things” attitude, and Mama learned, through her nursing training and subsequent career, that the medical profession doesn’t always act in the best interest of the patient.  So, all that, together with my desire to maintain a positive outlook on life, and assume “all is well,” has made me avoid doctor’s visits for years.  Well, I’m not a spring chicken any more, and the ostrich thing is just a bad idea.  All bird references aside—it was time for me to get a check-up and ask the doctor a few questions.  <sigh>

As is frequently the case, today’s appointment resulted in a second appointment for next week.   That date with the doc will be the real thing–fasting the night before, bloodwork . . . the whole nine yards.  I can hardly wait. (Insert sarcasm here.)

After my outing, I did some housework, and Kyle and I had dinner at home as we watched some TV, and then a movie.  He went to bed, and I wasn’t tired, so, finally feeling normal, I went to work.  I expected to be out there a couple of hours, and instead, I ended up working about a six-hour shift!  But, the really good news is that when I went to bed at five-fifteen in the morning, the chausuble I was building for Steve, Scarborough’s Archbishop of Canterbury, was totally complete.   My photo is a close-up of all the fabrics and trims involved.  A different view can be seen here.

I love finishing the first garment for my Scarborough folks.  It’s like a springboard of motivation.  One down . . . many to go. :-)
