Day Five in Florida. Days here in Florida seem to pass so quickly. I don’t feel like we did that much today, but still the day sped by for us.
Early in the day, we left the house to do a couple of errands and eventually have lunch. Mother and John “early voted” today—saving them from dealing with the polling place on Tuesday. Interestingly enough, there was a steady stream of people in the door of the courthouse, and standing in a short line, to vote today. Apparently it’s like this every day for about two weeks prior to the election day. Hmmm . . . is this sort of thing even available to us in Texas? I’d love to be able to go early, on my schedule, instead of having to worry about remembering, and planning around it on the actual “day.”
Anyway, from there, we were headed to the cemetary to visit Gammy’s grave. Having been here for the funeral, but not since, I had not seen the stone my mother bought, and I was looking forward to the visit. We stopped at a Wal-Mart, so I could purchase some pretty, seasonally appropriate silk flowers to replace the poinsettias currently in the stone vase. Normally, of course, Mama would take care of all this, but I wanted to do it this time. I think it looked very pretty when I was done with it. The stone itself is a lovely memorial, and I’m glad we made the time to drive out there today. And I’m using my photo of the lovely stone and our flowers, as my photo of the day, as much for Kyle to see it, as for any other reason.
The rest of the day was completely relaxed, with some time for reading, some TV, a couple of phone calls, a yummy Italian food dinner out, and even some Mah Jong! It was a good vacation day.
