Silver Morning

5 November 2007

I’m not at all sure how this photo looks to anyone but me.  I simply cannot divorce myself from the emotional high of how beautiful the Texas Renaissance Festival faire site is in the fog, and how elated it makes me feel.  I was still in my nightgown, so I didn’t wander far from our booth.  I only snapped three or four pictures.  But, this one, aimed out toward the list (jousting arena), with the big trees in between—-I think it’s incredibly beautiful.

Thanks for indulging me.  A detour to the airport this morning allowed me to do some shopping I’ve had an eye on doing for years.  So, I explored a new fabric store, and a fabulous little scrapbooking store, and then closer to home I finally visited the new local Home Goods/Marshalls store.  Oooooh.  I bought candles!

The dogs seem glad to be home, even if it’s only for a few days.  And it’s going to be a really busy few days!  Multiple trips to Dallas, multiple customer appointments, plus all the sewing I’m trying to get done for Dickens, not to mention building stuff and doing alterations for folks for faire.  The snowball has begun its downhill roll!

Family Dinner

4 November 2007

Happy Birthday, Lisa!

Happy Birthday, Chad!

Whereever our dear ones are, whatever they’re doing to celebrate their birthdays, I hope they’re having more fun than we did today! It was a long, rather dreary day—which is frustrating considering the weather was rather lovely, if not a bit warm, and the crowd was none too small.  But, it seems the magic of the high gate count had worn off this weekend.  Sales were disappointing.  I blame the “first of the month syndrome” where most folks have the lion’s share of their income already spent on rent and life’s necessities.  And I blame the price of gas.  We’ve seen a thirty cent increase in the last five days!  That’ll hit you in the pocketbook if you’ve travelled any distance to get to faire.  So, we kept busy reorganizing displays and cleaning, and I sent my folks on more breaks than normal.  Next week will be better again.

At day’s end, though, the frustrations of the day melted away as we enjoyed some fabulous quality time with some of the people in the world we love the most.  We relaxed, drank a little wine, ate some yummy food (the dessert of fresh fruit was spectacular!) and just generally enjoyed one another’s company and conversation.  It was an evening of love.
