Opening Day Saturday, Oct 6 2007
Daily 10:02 pm
For some, it’s just the first weekend in October. For others it is Texas/OU weekend (Sorry Terrill, TCU lost, too!
) For us, it is opening weekend of the Texas Renaissance Festival, and we’re one day down, one to go.
It was a busy, rewarding day. We were ready—as I wrote last night, perhaps readier than I’ve ever been. My staffing worries seem to be clearing up —a young lady came out of the woodwork today and seems as though she’ll work out fine. The weather was not exactly working with us: hot and muggy, then some rain, but no relief, then even hotter and muggier. Ew. But we survived, and the patrons were happy and somewhat inclined to spend. We like that.
We are exhausted from it all, though. The heat and humidity certainly takes its toll on me, these days. A good night’s sleep will be a wonderful thing.
My photo—very much an afterthought at day’s end, is of the cool showcase we have at this shoppe where we display some product, and use the top as a workspace to lace together bodices and such. Tomorrow, I’ll hope to actually take a photo or two to capture the energy of the faire.
