The Night Before

5 October 2007

Yep, this photo sucks.  But, it’s a photo and it illustrates that at 11:34 on the Friday before opening at TRF, our booth is pretty much ready! We’ll dress the last five mannequins in the morning, and hang a couple of banners for decoration (up high stuff I’ll let the guys do!) and when faire opens at nine a.m. we’ll be ready.

I don’t think I’ve EVER been this ready for opening, this early the night before.  I’m lovin’ it.

Kyle is here safely, now, and the weekend can begin.  Woo Hoo!  My gosh, I’m tired.

Chicken Enchiladas Friday, Oct 5 2007

Chicken Enchiladas

4 October 2007

Two nights in a row, dinner at Rancho Grande in Magnolia.  But, that’s okay, ’cause they serve a mighty tasty margarita!  I tend to order chicken enchiladas (and tonight I photographed the plate) in Tex Mex restaurants, at least until I find something I like better on a menu.  You could say it’s my barometer.  Like a basic cheeseburger at a grill, or a plate of fettucine alfredo at an Italian restaurant—chicken enchiladas are the measure of quality of food at a Tex Mex place.  And, I have yet to be disappointed at Rancho Grande.  And we’ve got a great little waiter named Diego who is learning our preferences and earning our appreciation.

Today began much earlier than I was ready for—especially after so late a night last night.  But, we accomplished much, and if tomorrow goes as well, we’ll be getting a good night’s sleep prior to opening day!  Tomorrow we’ll finish displaying product, and dress all the mannequins.  With any luck we’ll get some training of new workers done, too.  I am hoping the folks I’ve talked to will work out well.  For now, I believe I’m to bed.  These days are long and full of hard, physical labour.  I’m beat.
