Day Forty-seven at Bristol

A crazy, wonderful day—although less than profitable!  We think it’s the first time in at least twenty years — the Bristol Renaissance Faire did not open.  Yep.  Faire was closed for the day, due to the amazingly unrelenting rain we’ve been (and are still, as I write this) having.  It started raining Saturday around four p.m. (after drizzling and sprinkling and spitting all day) and hasn’t really quit, yet!  It’s now midnight (between Sunday and Monday).  I was awake so much all night, that I can honestly say, that at one point, I can remember wondering if there’d be so much rain the festival would have issues with opening!  This has now happened once at each faire I work, in the thirteen years I’ve been doing this.

So, in an effort to make lemonade out of lemons, I did my paperwork and inventory and by shortly after noon, we were off to have adventures!  Putting out of our minds, of course, all the dollars we were not earning, we decided to make the best of what was essentially an extra day for Kyle to play with me, here in Wisconsin.  He’s on vacation until Tuesday!  So, we drove into town and located a neat little bar and grill for which Kyle had received a recommendation.  We’d worked up an appetite for burgers and beer, and this place was touted as serving the best burgers in Wisconsin!  I certainly wouldn’t argue the point—the burgers were really sensational.  Kelly and Joseph joined us there, and agreed that the burgers were truly outstanding.

From there, we parted company with them, with an eye on dinner together, and Kyle and I headed to the Kenosha shore.  We found a car park, and a pier, and got out and walked and took photos and were goofy, in the rain.  We had a blast!  This wonderful photo of Kyle, of which I am very proud, was taken during that time at the lakefront.

After that, we hooked up with Kat and Sean and Amber at a place they frequent called Ron’s Place.  Although it’s known for it’s huge selection of Long Island Ice Teas, Kyle and I stuck with beer.

After saying goodbyes there, we drove to Racine, stopping along the way to snap a few photos.  We picked up Kelly and Joseph and went into the south end of Milwaukee for dinner at a great place called . . . The “something” Grange.  I know one of the other three will remember and let me know, so I can change this.   The atmosphere at this place was really nice, and the menu was great, however the service could have been considerably better.  But, oh well.

We dropped the other two at Maison Manussier, and continued back to the faire site.  A soggier site even, than we’d left a few hours earlier,  but still “home.”  The booth (and the recent roof repairs) are holding up very well.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to sleep a little sounder tonight, and worry less.
