Day Forty-five at Bristol
. . . was fabulous Celtic music! It’s Milwaukee Irish Fest! A favourite annual event for us—Kyle especially! After a relaxing morning at Kelly and Joseph’s, we headed to Milwaukee via the scenic route. We were specifically aiming to have a pint at a place recently brought to our attention called “Highbury Pub.” Unfortunately, the place was not open and we had to settle for taking a few photos and a promise that we’d try to get back up there Monday evening. We had lunch at a little diner across the street from the Highbury, then continued on to the waterfront park that is the site of the USA’s largest Irish festival.
We arrived just moments after Shannon and Chad and Carlos had organized their little tailgate party. We got out a blanket and joined the fun. It wasn’t long before we were joined by the folks from Tartanic, and then Ginger and Marshall, and finally George and Delaenya. That was a fabulous surprise! We all thought she was in Arizona! Shortly after four o’clock, Kyle and I walked across the street and into the festival—free admission until five p.m. is a great gift the festival gives it’s diehard Friday attendees.
The rest of the evening was full of good beer, great music, and incredible friends. We bought the Gaelic football jersey Kyle wanted, and a lovely Brigid’s Cross pendant for me. And of course, a couple of CDs found their way home with us, as well! The photo was taken at the last show we were at—The Elders. We’ve enjoyed them for years and have certainly watched them improve and gain notoriety. The hat, bought for our “Wicked” day in Chicago, but not worn that day, was the perfect sun shade for me today, even if it is obnoxiously lime green!
We gave up on the night at about 11:30 p.m., realizing we still had an hour’s drive back to site where work awaited me. Nearly three, and I’m done, now! I’m gonna curl up with my already sleeping husband! It’s sixty-two degrees and I’m thrilled to have him here for snuggling.
