Northern Workshop

Day Forty-two at Bristol

When I’m away at Bristol, I have the privilege of combining my workstation with the workshop of my dear friend Ginger, of Faire Pair Tights and Such.  It is here that she makes the fabulous velvet dresses that so many of us cannot imagine living without, as well as the finest tights you’ll ever find.  At least during Bristol, this is where it happens.  Like me, when not on the road, she works in her home.

The back room at Pendragon is terribly small and not mosquito proof.  It would be virtually impossible for me to set up a workspace there.  So, years ago, Ginger offered me a sweet little corner of her workshop and there I’ve been ever since.  Sometimes the workshop is a bustling, busy place, with three or even four people working different jobs, and music playing  and conversation flowing.  But, this year, more often than not, it seems, I’m working during morning hours, and I’m all alone.

In this photo, my workspace is in the lower right corner.  Today I finished that pretty green skirt that’s on my table in the picture.  Tomorrow morning I plan to try to finish another skirt order.  Then, in the afternoon—we’re going to go be “Wicked!”  Um  . . .  actually, that’s “we’re going to go see “Wicked!”  Woo Hoo!
