Geese in the Late Afternoon

6 August 2007

Day Thirty-four at Bristol

Whew!  I’ve been trying to write this post for over half an hour, and was just about to really give up.   I don’t know what is going on with my little computer, but I think it’s not happy.

Hey—it’s raining!  I wonder when that started?

I know, I know . . . most of my friends are now thinking, “there she goes again—oh, look! A chicken!”

Actually, it was a goose!

I delivered Kyle to O’Hare this morning, and against all odds he actually got on the first flight he was trying to take.  A blessing not to have to spend the day in the airport.  From there I drove straight to Racine to do some errands, including banking.  The Chase bank on Hwy 11 in Racine, sits adjacent to a lovely little park area surrounding a large pond.  Today, I noticed a group of about eight Canadian Geese making themselves at home near the water’s edge, so I grabbed my camera and decided to be brave.

Besides, the whole pond-side, water habitat theme-thing started yesterday.

Now, as we all know, geese can be amazingly nasty creatures, so I kept my bravery to a minimum, and thus my photography at a distance.  But, I did hang out for quite a while, even thinking I was done once and moving my car to a different parking spot and walking back to the other side of the pond.  It was a beautiful afternoon, and I was in no real hurry at that point.  There are a few more of the best of today’s pictures at my flickr page.  This little gaggle of geese didn’t seem to be too bothered by me, but then I didn’t get too close, either!

Day Thirty-three at Bristol

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Happy Birthday, Paul!

Proof that Kyle and I had a wonderful, carefree day at faire is the fact that the ONLY photo I took today was of this little turtle on the pond.  It makes me a little frustrated with myself, but mostly, it makes me laugh.  Romantic, isn’t it?  We did have a fabulous day together, and I wouldn’t trade a minute of it—rainstorms and all!
