Skirts for B~

1 March 2007

Four days in a row, I haven’t left the house (except for two meals at No Frills!).  So, once again, my photo of the day was taken right here at home.  This is one of the quick shots I took of Brittney’s skirts as she was leaving here tonight.  I love having my camera for reference in my work–no worry about not remembering exactly how I applied trim, or which way is “up” in the fabric pattern.  This isn’t a great shot, but it does show the wonderful colours of these fabrics and the trim treatment I used.  The bodice fitting went well, so I can build her bodice with confidence, now.  Then a pair of sleeves and she’ll be done!  But it will all have to wait, now, until after I finish my bridal order I’ll be working on through Monday.  I imagine pictures of that are forthcoming, Emily! <wink>

Sunset in North Texas Thursday, Mar 1 2007

Trees by Sunset
There is one thing for which I am thankful here in North Texas; and that would be the beauty of the sunset most every night. I’ve lived a lot of places and seen many a sunset, but these here in my part of the world certainly rival the very best on a pretty consistent basis. It wouldn’t surprise me to find out that Maxfield Parrish studied these North Texas beauties as a youngster, inspiring him to his later brilliant works of art using these same colours found naturally in a North Texas sunset.

28 February 2007

Today lasted about a week!

My days are so full of sewing and designing right now that I sometimes can’t remember what happened earlier the same day.  Kyle asked me tonight, as he was headed to bed, if I had taken my photograph yet, and I told him no.  I took the camera back to the workshop with me and shot some fabric stuff, and when I came back into the bedroom, having finished a project, I popped the little photo card into my computer and discovered I had indeed taken a few photos of Artemis this morning before I “went to work.”

At one point, Artemis actually had her head resting inside the ruby slipper.  I had to settle for this pose and she lost interest shortly thereafter.  I was diligently working on getting all my shoes into labeled boxes and making sure I wasn’t keeping anything I could no longer wear.  And the cat was watching every move I made.  These adorable glittery things, reminiscent of Dorothy, did not make the cut, by the way.  They are a prime example of me buying something for its sentimentality, rather than its usefulness!

Anybody need a pair of cute size 6 ruby red slippers?
